Sierra: It all started with a match on a dating app.
After only one week of messaging back and forth, Tyler asked me on our first date. We spent the evening bowling [which is not my favorite activity], but despite that it was the best date I'd ever been on. Naturally, Tyler had me laughing the whole time and I felt so comfortable around him. I knew immediately that something was special between us.
Tyler: I will start off by saying that I am a lucky man. Sierra turned on her dating app while visiting Texas to find someone to dance with, instead it opened the door for me to match with her when she got back. I can say God made this very possible, without him I would be still searching for the one. Our conversations were full of laughter and smiles from the beginning, and after a few days of messaging Sierra agreed to let me take her out on a date. I was both nervous and excited.
We choose to keep the evening casual with some bowling, which I can say with certainty that I am better at. There was never a dull moment in our conversation. Sierra took my breath away and had me smiling ear to ear the whole time. After a couple rounds of bowling, we decided to grab some dinner.
We ended up at a restaurant that fell a little on the nicer side, it seemed like neither of us were quite fancy enough to fit in. When the server laid a napkin down on the table, neither of us knew it was for the plate and not for your lap. Usually I would have felt embarrassed in a moment like that, but not this time. Sierra and I just chuckled together.
I knew that night I would marry Sierra, it was just a matter of time. I obviously had to wait to tell her that so I didn’t scare her away... I think I made it two weeks.
Sierra: In what felt like no time at all, Tyler became my best friend and the person I want to spend all of my time with. We did almost everything together, from sporting events [I know Tyler would like me to say Go Birds] to the ballet, concerts to movie nights and everything in between.
Tyler: After a few months Savannah and Sierra met, my two favorite ladies in this world were bonding and building a special relationship.
Before long we were saying 'I love you' and I was allowed in family photos. If you know Tracy you know that is a big deal.
Sierra: I will always remember the first day I met Savannah. We went to the movies and wandered around the mall, it took her all of 30 minutes to warm up to me in true Savannah fashion. Without knowing that I was already planning to go, she invited me to come to her dance recital that evening and to help do her hair and makeup. It was a simple day, but a great one.
It has been an incredible honor to get to be in Savannah's life and watch her start school and grow so quickly. I can't wait for the many years to come.
I love getting to explore the world with her and Tyler, watching her face light up when we take her to see Christmas lights or visit SeaWorld, or learn the hard way that there are a lot of bugs when you're camping in the forest.
Tyler: We were coming up on our first anniversary, I was buying a ring and fighting the urge to tell Sierra. I can not keep a secret from her, so I knew I had to ask her sooner rather than later.
I took her to a nice hotel for our anniversary [thanks Tommy!] so we could have a little stay-cation. We had plans to go to a nice dinner in the evening, so I suggested we fill our morning with a hike up South Mountain. I made her hike up a steep trail straight to the top where we stopped and had a little picnic lunch.
As we were cleaning up I stopped and got down on one knee, Sierra slowly turning around to see me holding her ring. There I was kneeling and too nervous to say a word, I might have muttered out 'will you marry me?'. With her hands was shanking and face red [though I think that was from the hike] she asked if I was serious and eventually said yes.
Sierra: The red face was definitely from the hike. But the yes was an easy answer once my shock settled. It was a great surprise for the first of many anniversaries.
